How do I take care of my tattoo?

Leave the bandage on for 3 to 12 hours after your appointment. Remove the bandage and wash gently with mild fragrance free soap and water using clean hands. Make sure to remove all the excess ointment, blood, and ink. DO NOT REBANDAGE.

Let the tattoo air dry for about an hour then add a very thin layer of Aquaphor or A&D ointment. Air is an integral part of the healing process, so do not put on too thick a layer of ointment. Continue using the ointment for the first 2 to 3 days, then switch to a fragrance free moisturizer such as Aveeno daily moisturizer. After a week, the tattoo will start to peel, flake, and itch which is a normal part of the healing process. It is very important that you do not scratch or pick your tattoo to insure the tattoo will heal properly; let scabs fall off naturally. Avoid rough fabrics rubbing against tattoo.

NO sun, NO swimming, and NO soaking for at least 2 weekS. AVOID HOT TUBS AS THEY CARRY BACTERIA AND CAN CAUSE INFECTION.

How do I care for my piercing?

We recommend washing your piercing twice daily with one of the after care methods below, once in the A.M. and once in the P.M. Wash your hands with soap and water before cleaning your piercing.

Sterile Saline

Use a packaged sterile saline solution with no additives or sterile saline wound wash such as NeilMed Piercing Aftercare Spray. Spray directly onto piercing twice a day, no rinsing necessary.

Sea Salt Solution

**Should only be used if you have no access to sterile saline**

Dissolve ¼ teaspoon of non-iodized (iodine free) sea salt into one cup (8 oz.) of warm water. Be sure ratio is correct, using too salt much can irritate piercing. For certain piercings it may be easier to apply solution as a compress, using saturated clean gauze or paper towel. Rinse thoroughly.

Oral Piercings

Maintain oral hygiene and rinse with distilled water. Follow the above mentioned recipe for Sea Salt Mixture and rinse mouth out after eating or drinking that is not water.
Avoid foods that are hot in temperature, spicy or high in citric acid such as grapefruit and oranges.

DO NOT use alcohol or any type of ointments on your piercing. DO NOT touch, twist or play with your new piercing.

If you plan on flying soon, please let your piercer know. High elevations may cause increased swelling and we want to ensure you have the correct sized jewelry.

Two months and onward. Consistent aftercare, not touching, twisting or interfering with natural healing process will ensure best healing time.
